There will be a “road trip across America,” stopping along the way to marvel at our beautiful country. There will be songs, trivia, door prizes, food and lots of fun. We would like to get folks to volunteer to decorate a table for the event. If you would like to decorate a table, please contact Tim Williams at 704-754-3108. You may choose your own theme. You might use decorations from a special trip you have taken, a favorite state, an event, fair, special school, or historical site, etc. Plan now to attend! It should be a great “Trip Across America” and lots of fun! Pack your bags! It’s almost time to GO!

2023 Vacation Bible School

VBS returns July 24th-28th at Faith Lutheran Church! The theme for this year is “Stellar: Shine Jesus’ Light”, where children ages pre-k to high school are invited to join us for an out-of-this-world adventure. Stellar VBS offers a few standout activities that help faith flow into real life: amazing science gizmos, creative team-building games, catchy songs, tasty treats, and surprising Bible-learning experiences kids can see, hear, and touch!

Starting at 5:30pm with a meal, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life (something called God Sightings). Each day will conclude with a Cosmic Closing for a daily celebration of Jesus’ light, hope, and love to get everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. At Stellar VBS, kids shine Jesus’ light!

VBS children and their family are also invited to a Celebratory Continental Breakfast on the Sunday after VBS (July 30th) at 9:00am! We will celebrate the end of our 2023 Vacation Bible School by discussing what children learned during the week, singing VBS songs, and enjoying fellowship together. You can RSVP for this breakfast when you register your child(ren). We hope you will join us!

Adult Summer Bible Study

During this year’s Vacation Bible School, we will also be having a class for adults! We encourage parents, grandparents, family and friends to join us for a meal and a 5-session bible study of the book of Romans led by Dr. Bradley Trick.

ADULT CLASS DESCRIPTION:

The church has often mined Paul’s letter to the Romans for its doctrinal gems–Justification by faith! Participation in Christ! The church’s relationship to Israel!–but such a piecemeal approach can distort and obscure the letter’s larger message. Written to a deeply divided church in the midst of a hostile pagan culture, Romans is truly a letter for today. In this 5-session study, we will read the text closely, seeking to understand both Paul’s argument and its implications for today. As we will discover, Paul writes this letter to chastise a church whose entrenched divisions between Jew and gentile are effectively calling God’s righteousness into question, keeping the light of Christ from going forth to their city, and causing them to store up wrath for themselves. The apostle then shows them the better way, encouraging the two groups to come together by showing them how the gospel has made them interdependent on one another.

Bradley R. Trick has an MDiv and ThM from Regent College (Vancouver, BC) and a PhD in New Testament from Duke University. He taught New Testament for 10 years at Hood Theological Seminary and is the author of Abrahamic Descent, Testamentary Adoption, and the Law in Galatians (NovTSup 169; Leiden: Brill, 2016). His principal interests include Pauline theology, the unity of the testaments, narrative approaches to scripture, and the ways in which the gospel creates interdependence between different genders, generations, and races.

Monday – Friday Schedule

Each day, Stellar VBS features a Bible Memory Buddy with one Bible Story to experience, one Key Bible Verse to learn, and one God Sighting to show children WHEN they can shine Jesus’ love and hope with the world!

We look forward to seeing everyone for our 2023 Stellar Vacation Bible School!
