ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER?
We believe that joining a congregation is essential to living a life of faith. Jesus called people into community and commissioned His church to be a living witness in the world.
We encourage anyone discerning membership in our family of faith to participate in the following process:
- Worship with the Congregation. By attending worship, you can get an impression of our congregation. This will allow you to hear our pastor preach the Word of God from a Lutheran perspective. Worship is also a good way to meet other Christians who are following Christ as members of our congregation.
- Meet with the Pastor. As you worship with us, you may have some questions about the congregation. If so, you should set up a time to meet and talk with the pastor.
- Enroll in a Membership Class. These sessions are designed to help you see that you are not just joining a church, but that you are joining us in our mission to serve Jesus. The classes are held throughout the year during Sunday School time (9:30 – 10:15 AM). Reminders of upcoming classes will be printed in our monthly editions of “Faith Matters”, the weekly worship bulletin, and on the church calendar. At the end of your class, you may formally request approval to join the congregation in its mission from our congregational council.
- Attend the worship service on New Member Sunday. Once approved, you are invited to a special worship service where you are received as a member of our congregation!
*A pre-requisite to membership in our congregation is to be baptized. If you have not been baptized, you are still welcome to begin the membership process. Please inform the pastor so that you can discuss the life-changing Sacrament of Holy Baptism. You can be baptized and become a new member of our church during the same worship service.*
