September 2023 is Senior Month at FLC

The whole month of September has been proclaimed Faith Lutheran Senior Month 2023! Activities are planned for Labor Day, Grandparent’s Day, Dan Nicholas Park Picnic Day, and Homecoming. Grandparent’s Day is our third $100 Sunday collection this year. Gifts may be given in memory or in honor of Grandparents or Grandchildren. A letter will be mailed to everyone concerning this offering. Proceeds will go to the missions of the Stewardship Team. Along with the mailing, there will be 2 forms, one for the $100 Sunday and one for getting a count for “Senior Celebration Sunday”.

September Events:

We will have a Church Picnic at Dan Nicholas Park on Sunday, September 10th. Burgers and hot dogs will be ready at 5:00pm. We welcome homemade ice cream if you wish to bring some! Shelter #6 is reserved all day for Faith members.

Our annual “Senior Celebration Sunday” Luncheon will be held after worship at 12:00pm in the Family Life Center on Sunday, September 17th (sponsored by the Stewardship Team). Those 60 years of age and older are invited to participate in this year’s celebration, “A Trip Across America!” We will enjoy a fellowship meal together provided by Debbie Suggs. There will be a “road trip across America,” stopping along the way to marvel at our beautiful country. There will be songs, trivia, door prizes, food and lots of fun. We would like to get folks to volunteer to decorate a table for the event. If you would like to decorate a table, please contact Tim Williams at 704-754-3108. You may choose your own theme. You might use decorations from a special trip you have taken, a favorite state, an event, fair, special school, or historical site, etc. Plan now to attend! It should be a great “Trip Across America” and lots of fun! Pack your bags! It’s almost time to GO!

The 13th Annual Carolinas’ Lutheran Women (CLW) Convocation will be on Saturday, September 23rd at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (225 Morgan Street, Troutman, NC 28155). Registration begins at 9:30am. The LIFE TO LIFE DISCIPLESHIP Program will be presented by Candace Johnson from Hickory, NC (learn more at nalclifetolife.org). Bring your Bible for the program! In-Kind Gifts will go to My Sister’s House (sanitary products, towels/washcloths, bodywash, shampoo/conditioner, soap including ethnic hair care products). Offering will go to NALC Disaster Response (make checks payable to CLW, memo “Convocation Offering”).

Homecoming: Back to Church Sunday – We will have our Homecoming Luncheon on Sunday, September 24th after worship in the Family Life Center. We welcome everyone to join us, bring a covered dish or dessert, and invite your friends and neighbors for our “Back to Church” Sunday!
