Vacation Bible School returns July 20th-24th at Faith Lutheran Church! The theme for this year is “True North: Trusting Jesus in a Wild World”, where children ages pre-k to high school are invited to join us for the ultimate 5-day Alaskan adventure. True North VBS offers a variety of activities to point kids to Jesus and remind them of His love: catchy songs, team-building games, fun crafts, and awesome Bible-learning experiences kids can see, hear, and touch.
When we wonder, when we feel alone or powerless, when we need hope or help; we can trust Jesus!
Starting at 5:30pm with a meal, we’ll help kids discover what it means to trust Jesus in a wild world! Finding your way in a world gone wild can be challenging, but we have Jesus—our true north! As kids trek the Alaskan tundra, they’ll explore how easy it is to lose sight of what’s true in our wild world today. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings.
Each day concludes with a Compass Closing, a daily celebration of our rock-solid faith in Jesus that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Pointing kids toward Jesus, True North VBS shows them that he is a faithful friend we can always trust. HE IS OUR TRUE NORTH!
Adult Bible Study
Also during Vacation Bible School, Julie Humphreys will be leading our class for adults! We encourage parents, grandparents, family, and friends to join us for a meal and a 5-session bible study that uses clips from the film OVERCOMER to examine how we determine our identity and how we can find our true identity in Christ!
WHAT DO YOU ALLOW TO DEFINE YOU?
This Bible Study (featuring five group discussion sessions, video clips from the film OVERCOMER by Alex & Stephen Kendrick, and personal-study opportunities for ongoing spiritual growth) is designed to help you firmly establish your value and worth in Christ. You’ll encounter a variety of Old and New Testament giants who either demonstrated an identity firmly rooted in God’s truth or warn you of the danger of choosing alternative identities. Along the way you’ll have opportunities to determine whether your identity may be ill-defined and to be drawn back to the only source of meaning in life, ever closer to Christ. Regardless of the intention with which you approach this study, the goal is to answer the questions of “Who are we really? Why are we here? What is God calling us to do?” We hope you’ll join us!
BIBLE STUDY BENEFITS:
Learn to define yourself as the Creator defines you.
Understand that false identity comes from your brokenness.
Trust what Christ accomplished to make you new.
Find certainty and purpose in the Lord.
Recognize ways you are finding your identity in something other than Christ.
Reclaim the great purpose God has for your life.
Learn what it means to be broken by sin.
Study the lives of Moses, Gideon, Jonah, Jeremiah, Elisha, Paul, and other biblical figures to learn how their relationships with God defined their identities.
Sunday – Thursday Schedule
Each day, True North VBS features a “Bible Buddy” with one Bible Story to focus on, one Key Bible Verse to discuss, and a Bible Point that gives kids a rock-solid foundation and points them to Jesus—their unmovable, unshakable friend forever!
We will also be doing Dress-Up Days this year during VBS! Each day is themed to relate to our True North Bible Points. We encourage everyone to join in the fun and dress up for each day’s theme!

We look forward to seeing everyone for our 2025 True North Vacation Bible School. Let’s hit the trails for the ultimate Alaskan adventure!
